It's great to see so many people here. I heard that there's actually a timing conflict and
that it's actually really difficult to participate in this lecture. This is why we will be recording
this lecture for the entire term. So I might ask questions and you're free to answer, but
most of the time your answer won't be intelligible. So they will not be able to hear you on the
recording because I have the microphone here. So if you reply to an answer, don't be afraid.
Only my voice will be recorded. Your answer won't be recorded. So maybe my reaction to
your answer will be recorded. So you're all filmed from the back so nobody will be able
to identify you. So please do not let this stop you from participating in the lecture.
It's much more fun if you play along. So if you all sit there and just like watching television,
it's not as much fun. It's much more fun if you take part in the lecture and then,
come on, what are you doing? There's another typo or yeah, you're free to participate in
the lecture. Okay? Good. Then we will have exercises. Matthias Hoffmann will do the exercises
for the lecture. And you want to tell us something about the exercises, right?
Yeah. We have two dates in a week where we have the lecture. One is the Wednesday and
one is the Thursday. And is this true? Yeah. So if you're not attending this lecture, you
don't get the information for the exercises because you can't hear him in the recording.
So you either write this down or you look it up in Univis. And in both we are doing
the same stuff. So you can decide either to go to the Wednesday exercise or to the Thursday
exercise. Who wants to go to the Wednesday exercise? Two? No. Okay. Five? Five. Oh, that
will be cool. Yeah. And the rest is Thursday. We have a lot of time to dig into the details
to have a look at your code. That's great. Thursday. Oh, are you sure? So if you can,
please switch to the Wednesday exercise because if there are 40 people in the room, first,
everyone gets a seat. Every third one gets a monitor and every fifth one gets attention
of me. Okay. So I don't know. But yeah. Should we shift? Should we shift the Wednesday lecture,
the Wednesday exercise? Sorry. There's no lecture on Wednesday. Should we shift? No.
You want to attend the Wednesday. You're one of the five. Who would be able to switch if
the other exercise would not be on that particular period in Wednesday and would then attend
the Wednesday or not any longer Wednesday exercise? It depends where. Would you be able
to attend the Wednesday exercise once and then convince everybody to shift it? Do you
even intend to participate in the exercise because there's also the option to take this
class without exercise? When is the Wednesday class? Nine to ten. Are you giving me solutions
for the exercises? No. But in the exercise, right? In the exercise. Yeah, but in the exercises
solutions, no. No, I won't put any solutions of the exercise into the bar. Maybe we should.
So there's still one week until we start with the exercises. So maybe we can try to find
a different appointment for Wednesday. Yeah, I will think about it. I'll try to find the
solution. Because we could technically set up a Doodle poll. Yeah. So what we will do
is we will post a link to Doodle with suggestions to shift the Wednesday exercise. And then
you can maybe tomorrow morning you can go onto our website. Remember, if you visit our
website by the way, it might happen that you get a version that is one week old and you
have to press refresh to get the newest version. So our web server in order to reduce traffic,
it is configured such that if you have visited a website more frequently than the last week,
so you've been there yesterday and two days before, it will still show you the version
that is one week old. So you will only get the recent version if you press reload. So
be careful. So we will post until tomorrow morning, we will post a Doodle link. And then
we try to shift the Wednesday exercise and let's see what comes out of that. And then
we have some, so we will finalize the result by the next lecture and we can tell you about
the result on next Tuesday lecture. Is that okay? Yeah. Okay. Can I have a second question?
Who has already done some Matlab? Okay, that's about half of the course. Okay, great. For
the others, we have a tutorial which we do in the first exercise. And for all of those
who already know Matlab, we will do, we start with the first exercise and there are two

This lecture focuses on recent developments in image processing driven by medical applications. All algorithms are motivated by practical problems. The mathematical tools required to solve the considered image processing tasks will be introduced.
